ARE THERE ANY RULES FOR RESIDENTS?

There are no rules of any kind here at Five Gables – our residents have complete choice over every aspect of their lives, from what time they get up and go to bed, to what they want to eat and drink, to how they want to spend their time. Our staffing levels are specially designed to cater for the needs of all our residents, so all their needs and wishes can be met.


HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME TO STAY AT FIVE GABLES?

At Five Gables, a pre-admission assessment is completed which ensures that we are able to meet your needs and wishes, and this is how we calculate an approximate figure for your monthly fees. This is confirmed when a contract is signed. Our fees also vary depending on the room type and size, e.g. single/double, ensuite/non-ensuite. In some cases, an individual may receive funding from the government to cover or support the costs of their stay. Feel free to ask at the time of your pre-admission assessment for more information on this, or seek advice from the Citizens Advice Bureaux or your local authorities.


ARE THERE VISITING HOURS?

OUR VISITING HOURS AT FIVE GABLES ARE VERY FLEXIBLE AS WE BELIEVE IN CREATING A HOME-FOR-HOME ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR RESIDENTS. WE JUST ASK THAT VISITORS ARE RESPECTFUL TOWARDS OTHER RESIDENTS AND ARE SENSIBLE IN TERMS OF NOT COMING TOO EARLY OR TOO LATE.


WHAT SORT OF FOOD IS AVAILABLE?

ALL OF OUR FOOD IS PREPARED WITHIN THE HOME BY SPECIALLY TRAINED COOKS AND OUR STAFF. IT IS FRESHLY MADE EVERY DAY AND OUR MENUS ROTATE THROUGHOUT THE SEASONS. OUR RESIDENTS HAVE A CHOICE OF WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO EAT, SO THE MEMBER OF STAFF RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPARING A MEAL WILL ASK EACH RESIDENT IF THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THE MENU CHOICE THAT DAY, AND IF THEY ARE NOT, THEN ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS ARE GIVEN. ON ADMISSION TO FIVE GABLES, WE WILL TAKE NOTE OF YOUR LIKES AND DISLIKES AND THIS IS RECORDED SO THAT WE CAN ENSURE YOU STILL GET TO ENJOY YOUR FOOD AND DRINKS.


WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED A DOCTORS/OPTICIANS/DENTIST/ETC APPOINTMENT?


PART OF OUR SERVICES AT FIVE GABLES INCLUDES SUPPORTING YOUR HEALTH AND WELFARE – THIS MEANS THAT WE WILL ARRANGE ANY APPOINTMENTS YOU REQUIRE, COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS ON YOUR BEHALF AND ENSURE YOUR NEEDS ARE MET. OUR STAFF HAVE AN EXCELLENT WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LOCAL GPS, THE DISTRICT NURSING TEAM AND WE HAVE A VISITING OPTICIAN AND CHIROPODIST WHO OFFER THEIR SERVICES TO ALL RESIDENTS TOO.


CAN I STILL DO THINGS EACH WEEK THAT I USED TO DO AT HOME?

ONE OF OUR BIGGEST COMMITMENTS TO YOUR CARE IS ENSURING THAT WE CREATE A HOME-TO-HOME EXPERIENCE FOR YOU, AND SUPPORT YOU TO RETAIN YOUR INDEPENDENCE AND CONTINUE TO ENJOY DOING THE THINGS YOU DID WHILST IN YOUR OWN HOME. FOR EXAMPLE, WE ARRANGE FOR A VISITING VICAR TO HOLD COMMUNION FOR RESIDENTS WHO WOULD LIKE THIS, WE HAVE A HAIRDRESSER WHO COMES ONCE A WEEK, AND OUR STAFF SUPPORT RESIDENTS TO GO ON OUTINGS TO THE VILLAGE WHERE THERE ARE AN ABUNDANCE OF SHOPS, INCLUDING TESCO, THE COOPERATIVE, THE LOCAL PHARMACY/BUTCHERS/LIBRARY/PUB AND MORE.
